Here is the list of commands that are used to run in ssh shell to start and stop apache.

command to start apache server:
> /etc/init.d/apache2 start

command to restart apache server:
> /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

command to stop apache server:
> /etc/init.d/apache2 stop


rather than restart apache you can use force reload to make the apcahe restart .

command to force reload apache server:
> /etc/init.d/apache2 force-reload

> killall -9 processid
